1. What is our Airbrush Tanning?
Our airbrush tanning is a process where an all natural solution is gently applied to your skin using a low pressure spray system, which
is ideal for applying tanning solutions evenly and efficiently. The active ingredient in the solution is a colorless sugar, which has been
FDA approved for more than 30 years, and naturally darkens the skin.
This special formula works by interacting with the natural amino acids
in the dead surface cells found in the outermost layer of the skin. This produces a color change, which resembles a UV based tan. As the
dead skin cells gradually wear off, the color slowly fades, just like a genuine sun tan. This does not cause damage to the underlying living
layers of skin.
2. What will my tan look like?
The initial tan, which you observe in seconds, is a deep, dark brown. It is often refereed to as a “Jamaican” tan. The initial color is from
the bronzer, and will wash off with your first bath or shower. The final tan, which deepens during the first 8 hours, is a golden-brown color,
often referred to as a "Baywatch" tan.
Vancouver Spray Tan has a three level tanning system with three different concentrations: 8%, 10% and 12%.
Your technician will work with you to choose the best level dependant on skin type.
3. What should I wear?
During your session you can wear a bathing suit or under garments while getting airbrushed. The bronzer we use for your initial color is water-soluble
and should easily wash out of most fabrics. However, spandex, lycra, wool, nylon, and leather can stain. Therefore, it is recommended you wear a
dark colored, snug, older garment. This will create “tan lines”. You can also wear shorts and a shirt, if you prefer.
4. Is it safe?
The active ingredient DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) has been approved for cosmetic applications for 30 years. Most Sunless and bronzing tanning lotions
use DHA. People who have DHA allergies should test their skin first before using.
5. How long will my sunless tanning session take?
Each appointment is usually completed within 30 minutes. Upon arrival, our airbrush specialist will set up a tent in which you will be sprayed.
It then takes approximately 10 minutes to complete the application of the tanning solution to your skin and another 5 to 10 minutes for complete
drying.
6. How should I prepare for my sunless tanning session?
Exfoliate your body and shower the day of or before your session and be sure to exfoliate those areas that are prone to dryness such as your ankles,
knees and elbows. Make sure that there are no oils, lotions, perfumes, or make-up on your skin.
7. What should I do after my session?
Wear loose-fitting, dark clothing. Do not shower, work out, or do any activity that causes sweating for at least 6 to 8 hours. This allows the
solution optimal time to react with the amino acids in the skin, encouraging a smooth even tan.
8. How long will it last?
Your tan will stay radiant for 5 to 7 days. Vancouver Spray Tan chooses to use tanning products provided by React Cosmetics. React Cosmetics
are well known for the exceptional quality of their solutions.
Their entire product line is designed and created to provide the perfect blend
of beauty and performance; providing the optimal sunless tanning experience. React products utilize advanced penetrating agents which facilitate
rapid solution absorption into the skin, ensuring production of a uniform, streak-free, enduring tan. Each solution blend is perfectly pH balanced
for optimal color development.
9. How long do I have to wait after my session before I can shower?
Wait 6 to 8 hours after tanning before taking a shower. This allows the solution optimal time to react with the amino acids in the skin, encouraging
a smooth even tan. Allowing the product to develop on skin overnight is ideal. If you shower earlier, you may diminish the intensity of the tan.
When you do shower, you will notice the initial tan created by the water-soluble bronzer wash off, but your long-lasting sunless tan will remain.
10. What about allergic reactions?
If you have hypersensitive skin, or are allergic to sunless-tanning products, please check with your physician prior to using this or any other
sunless tanning products.
11. What about my hair?
The solution is not normally absorbed by scalp and body hair, nor does it usually cause discoloration. Occasionally very pale, bleached,
processed, very porous or grey hair can absorb some tint. Our tanning technicians will provide a protective hair cover for vulnerable hair types.
12. Are there ways to enhance the results?
We recommend that you use a high quality moisturizer frequently after the tanning session as this will help prolong the tan. You should not apply
any moisturizers or lotions to the skin on the day of your session. Certain types of moisturizers or lotions applied during this period could cause
streaking. Shimmer lotions, and cosmetic bronzers can all be applied to enhance your radiant tan.
13. What type of equipment and products do you use?

an airbursh tan. To ask questions about our current
equipment or tanning solutions please call 604 636 8557
